Film Statement
My work is a documentary about paper airplanes and the creativity of humans. The purpose of my film was to engage the viewers and to show the creativity of the participants and to test out the participant’s creativity.
When creating a film about paper airplanes you have to be really creative and consistent when using the camera. You have to be in the right place, have the right camera angle, and maintain good lighting. The most challenging part is keeping the airplane centered on the camera while the airplane is in the air. It takes a great deal of skill to do this because you never know where the paper airplane might go. In my film I showed the use of this. I attempted to keep the paper airplane centered on the camera and I did.
Of course when you are making a film you will not get the perfect footage on your first try, that’s why we use iMovie editing software to put together scrambled pieces in the film. When I used iMovie I added many effects to entice the film. I used fast motion effects to speed up the slow parts in our film. By using the fast motion effects I made the film more desirable. I also created titles for each one of my events in the film to give the film a setting in each scene.
My film contains a structured plot starting off the film with interviews of people who know how to make a paper airplane. Then as the film carried along, the experts made their airplanes. Later on, the expert’s creativity was put on line on a series of test to see which airplane is the strongest, toughest, and fastest of them all. By using the right plot, the right setting, and the right editing techniques your film will turn out great!
